Malayala Manorama highlights Muscat Mar Gregorios Maha Edavaka’s ‘Save A Life’ charity project

MUSCAT — Leading Malayalam daily, Malayala Manorama, has prominently carried out the news of the Save A Life (2011-12), cardiac surgery project, of the Mar Gregorios Orthodox Maha Edavaka (MGOME), Muscat.

The news was carried out in its issue dated June 23, 2011 with an accompanying story on the surgery methods.

The news related to the press conference held at the Pathanamthitta Press Club addressed by Fr James Geevarghese, Vicar and President, Mar Gregorios Orthodox Maha Edavaka (MGOME) and Dr Saji Philip, clinical and administrative co-ordinator of the St Gregorios Cardio-Vascular Centre.

Fr James had pointed out that as the church enters 40th year, the Maha Edavaka as part of its popular charity project called ‘Thanal’ wanted to provide financial aid to minimum 40 children through the project. The daily has praised the charity project undertaken by the church.

Cardiology camps have already been held in several districts of Kerala to trace the genuine cases among children.

So far about 13 applications have been received for request regarding providing financial aid for the poor with heart ailments, says Dr Saji Philip, clinical and administrative co-ordinator of the St Gregorios Cardio-Vascular Centre.

The cardiac surgery project will be executed in association with St Gregorios Cardio-Vascular Centre. The international centre provides training and research for cardio thoracic and vascular diseases. The centre functions from the St Gregorios Mission Hospital, Parumala.
